At the end of Planet of the Apes, they too, found the statue of liberty.
And what did they learn from discovering this?
They were on Earth, years in the future.
uu/UU are on Earth.
but our sun is too small to become a red giant
that’s also because the sun is not close THAT close to the earth
you bring it closer and it’s about to die it’s gonna be a red giant
Actually that’s not quite true.
The sun is big enough to become a red giant and will reach that stage in approximately 7.6 billion years. When the sun reaches the red giant phase, its radius expands dramatically and most scientists believe that Earth will be incinerated as the sun is projected to expand 20% past Earth’s current maximum orbit today. Hypotheses exist that suggest Earth may in fact escape being completely swallowed by the sun due to various cosmic interactions that haven’t been factored into current models, but there’s no question that even if that does happen and Earth isn’t vaporized, the sun will still be so close it will cause our planet to become uninhabitable to life.
Now, what’s really intriguing is the stuff at the bottom of the Scientific American’s article on the subject that states:
Could Earth be saved if someone is still left at home? In a bold piece of astronomical engineering, Don Korycansky of the Univerisity of California, Santa Cruz, and his colleauges have proposed nudging Earth with a large asteroid arranged to pass periodically. It could take one billion years to move our planet out to somewhere safe, like the orbit of Mars.
How interesting that an asteroid could be used to save the Earth billions of years in the future.
How
very
interesting
an
asteroid
could be used
to save Earth
billions of years in the future
i
shit
when i finally understood that i literally got chills
Still doesn’t explain why there are so many seemingly perfect replicas of the Statue of Liberty
Unless I missed something
weird sense of humor, or just a lot of little statues maximixed
